Kabaddi

The game Kabaddi was invented 4000 years ago in early India. The name Kabaddi is from the word Kar-badhi which means “holding hands” That’s where they got the name because you hold hands when you are defending. There are different kinds of Kabaddi - Sanjeevani, Gaminee and Amar.If you didn’t know, the game is still played today. There competitions all over the world that lots of countries compete in. A few are Asia Kabaddi Cup, UK Kabaddi Cup and Kabaddi World Cup

It is played by 7 players on each team, there are 4 defenders, 1 raider and the rest just rotate around. The purpose of the game is to get as many points as you can. The defenders have to stay inside the rectangle and stay linked together and the raider has to go through the gateway. Their main purpose is for the raider to go through the gateway and there, they have 30 seconds to tag a defender on the other team then the defender that has been tug has to try and tackle the raider to the ground and hold them down till the 30 seconds is up. The raider and still try and get up and get their whole body through the gateway. You only need cones for the outline and a markway for the gateway. Whoever has the most points at the end wins. You can earn points by the raider getting back to their own team or if the defender holds the raider down.
Kabaddi is a really interesting name and its really unique  just like the game. So yeah the game is pretty simple aye, but its really fun to play. It seems to be popular all around the world, you should probably play it sometime.

Ki-O-Rahi

Ki-O-Rahi is a traditional Maori game that is popular all over New Zealand and is also known in other countries, mainly Europe, France. The game was created in The Legend of Rahi and Patupaiarehe where Rahi’s wife, Patupaiarehe was abducted and taken far away. Rahi had to find her and when he did, Rahi’s tribe and the tribe that abducted Patupaiarehe created Ki-O-Rahi to play instead of going to war.  The game is still going and there are tournaments for adults and children.

There are seven players on each team. There are two types of Ki-O-Rahi, there is the tackle and the non-tackle. Professional adults play tackle in competitions but normally children just play non-tackle with tags. The game is played on a circular field with no outs, the purpose of the game is to hit the te tupu and to defend it by blocking the other team from hitting it with the ball. There are no positions, but there are rules, no more than five people can enter the circle around the te tupu.

If you didn’t know, there is a legend behind this game, it is a story from back in the olden days. The words used in Ki-O Rahi are connected to the story. The story is about Patupairehe stealing Rahi’s wife Tiarakurapakiwai, then Rahi trys to save her. As soon as Rahi rescued his wife, they decided to make peace and they made up the game Ki-O-Rahi. Pou represents the 7 stars of Matariki. Te Tupu represents the rock where Rahi was trapped, Ara represents the pathway of silver ferns.

Kio Rahi Description

The player sprinted around before diving into the Pawero. He accelerated around the centre, threw the ball and hit Te Tupu with skill. You see players leaping from one side to another, running roughly towards Te Tupu like they were running for a piece of chicken.

The Divers Explanation

Diving is an internationally, recognised sport that includes leaping off a high springboard like a acrobat. Diving is one of the most popular sport in the olympics ever since 1904 with spectators. The competitors possess many of the same characteristic as gymnasts and dancers, including strength, flexibility, kinesthetics judgement and air awareness.

Most diving competitions consist of three disciplines: 1 m and 3 m springboards, and the platform. In platform events, In major diving meets, including the Olympic Games and the World Championships, platform diving is from the 10 meter height.

According to my research, divers are judged by their somersaults, their twists and turn and the amount of splash that is made.

Diving Description

As the diver balanced, his body was taut. The audience waited in anticipation for his dive. The diver perfectly left the platform with a clean entry. As she twisted and turned, he executed his maneuvers with precision. he entered the pool positively with a minimal splash.

Netball.

“What?” I said with a nervous voice. As soon as I heard that we only get 8 minutes a half? I straight away felt nervous. We usually get 10 minutes a quarter, this made me think that I had to try my hardest, like seriously.

The referee blew the whistle and the game began, it was the other teams ball. I quickly leaped in front of my partner as the ball was flying over to her. Instead of catching it, I hit it out of the court. “Shot Annliz” Shouted Mele. It was a nice intercept, but I could have caught it. Well, you guys reading this story should already know where my story is set by now?

We were into the last half, the other team was leading by 1 point just 1 more point and then we will be equal. I looked towards the timer, “3:00 more minutes left” I mumbled to myself. It was our center throw, and the ball landed in my hands, throwing it down to our GS the buzzer went just before we could shoot. “Great” I mumbled. Lost by one 1 point, unlucky. The good thing is that we all had fun playing this team.
