The Helpful Elves! ! !
Unexpectedly, Mr Burt told us that elves are coming to Pt England to give us all presents? At first I thought elves never actually existed. Well, They’re coming to our school. We were all sitting in the hall waiting. As they arrived we all started to stare. Our jaws dropped just like that.
We sat in a group of girls and boys, while the elves went to their “Slade” and grabbed a whole bag of presents, even more than one of Santas sack. We sat in rows so that it will be easy to get our presents. We lined up, already to receive our lovely and thoughtful presents.
As we got back to class, we rapped open our presents. I was so thankful and grateful, I go paint and panels to paint on. I got one small paint brush as well. I was really happy, because I could paint my friend a panel for secret Santa.
I just want to say a massive and a enormous big “THANK YOU” to MOTAT and Johnson & Johnson for what they have done. We are sure we will treasure them.
Nelson Mandela
Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, Born In Transkei, 1918. Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was a South African anti-apartheid who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was South Africa's first black chief executive, and the first elected in a fully typical popular election.
He went to primary school near Qunu, Got the name “Nelson” from a teacher. Mandela attended the Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand, where he studied to be a lawyer. While attending Fort Hare University (studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree) Nelson Mandela met two men who were to become close friends and influences in his life and one of them was Oliver Tambo and the other one was Kaiser 'K.D' Matanzima. Matanzima was in line for the Transkei throne.
From 1948 until early 1994 Apartheid was made law in South Africa, even though it is considered to have been a breaking of exchange law. The idea of 'grand apartheid' was now one of government separation, while 'petty apartheid' had more to do with segregation.
Under apartheid Mandela was in prison nearly 27 years, but he never gave up the fight. There is probably no one who has done a lot to end the rule of apartheid as Nelson Mandela.
After his release from prison in 1990 Nelson Mandela went on to become president of South Africa. Apartheid was now ended though there is no doubt that much of the racism is still deeply rooted in the country. He has been the voice of all the people and made the message heard right around the whole wide world!!
Nelson Mandela, December the 6th 2013, He had past away. We all know he will never be forgotten. It’s really sad knowing that one of the greatest, caring, peaceful man Like Nelson Mandela would leave. He is a hero and will always be known as one, also Martin Luther King and Rosa Parks.

Action World!!!
Action World, a place filled with obstacle courses that you and your family can enjoy! Based in Henderson, West Auckland. Last Friday, the year 7’s went to Action World for our trip. We travelled by bus, Excitedly singing on the way.
As we arrived, we took off our bags and took off our shoes. Before we even thought about trying out the activities, we had to sit and listen to Jerry go through the safety rules. Really important as “They Say” .
So, my favourite obstacle course is the tra-peeze obviously. Well there was something I had to do before I could go on it, Past the jungle swings test. Junge swings is slightly easier. There is four swings, it’s like four monkey bars. We had to atleast make it to the end to have a turn on the tra-peeze.
Action World, is a place I’d stay for a whole day again. It’s so enjoyable, that makes you not want to leave! I had a lot of fun, having a turn on all activities.
I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to all the tutors for being so helpful. Remember settings is in the first paragraph. It was such a... BLAST!
Reflection 2013
This year has been a great experience, Learning new things everyday with my netbook. I can say Pt England compared to my old school is such a massive relief. At my old school, we write on paper, basically we do everything on paper!!! However at Pt England, we have netbooks.
Writing on paper makes me feel like I’m in jail. I can’t even take my fingers off the pencil, my hands get sweaty and tired from writing line by line. It’s annoying how you make mistakes, you either have to rub it out or start again. Because crossing it out with a pencil makes it messy! Which teachers don’t like.
Unlike Pt England we have netbooks, we share our work with the whole world by posting everything on our blog. Sometimes the internet stuffs up, But we have g edit to back us up. Then when the internet connects, we copy and paste our work onto our document.
I helped out my friend when she was struggling with her fractions, well not really. She went on my blog where I had left my movie about fractions. We were doing the same activity, so she had a watch. She took a look and knew straight away she could do that.... All from my blog!
I have done some learning myself this year, I taught myself how to edit a movie on a Ipad. After I had a few tries, I got use to is and started using it more often. It’s not that hard or not that simple, anyone could have a try.
That’s why I love my netbook so much, It’s our own responsibility to look after it. So, this year has been a great year. Never to be forgotten.

Swimming Gif
Last week room 15 and room 19 went swimming, we had to walk to the pools which was not even near a kilometre away. There were three groups, I was in group two and my group was called average? The pool I swam in was 1 length long.
The instructor looked tired cause some boys were talking over her. She didn’t mind because she said if they did it wrong then it is their own fault. She had a loud voice though.
I really had fun, my favourite swimming technique was free style. I would like to swim again, but we’re now finished swimming. Thanks to the instructor (Lorina) for teaching us techniques that could make it easier for us to swim.

First Day At School
“ Annliz time to go!” Mum yelled as she packed my lunch. Extremely excitedly I ran out the door not noticing I was only wearing one sock. “Terrace End School, here I come!” I said with a manly voice. “ Shut up” Penelope yelled from the back.
Arriving at school my heart was pounding so fast, I was really enthusiastic. I ran to the swings as my mum waved goodbye, I gave her a cheesy smile. As the bell rang I could hear kids screaming laughing, I could see them jumping off the playgrounds and running off. I didn't know what to do because they were all running in different areas. I thought it was time to move from the swings to the slide. As I walked towards the slide an old lady walked towards me.
I was so scared. She looked old and scary. She had a missing tooth and she had a bald patch. “ Hi, you must be Annliz....... Well, I'm your teacher “ She said with a granny voice. I ran in circles screaming as loud as a tigers roar.
Watching for a moment, She ripped her face off and it looked like she has Teleport into the past? “Hahaha, Annliz, Don’t be scared it’s only a mask and I’ll be wearing it for Halloween”, She explained. I ran towards her and introduced myself confidently, Then she took me inside.
On that one day, I met some friends and had a lot of fun. I really did enjoy myself and couldn't wait for the next day.

40 minute recount
“Aaaah, I think I just saw a crab!!! “, I yelled. In the school holidays me and family went to the beach. On that sunny day I was playing in the sand until I thought I felt a rock? I pulled it out mysteriously and took a look, It was a crab! It was white and scary. I quickly stood up and ran as far as possible. “Hey, Annliz, Annliz come and play!!”, my cousin shouted. So I ran to them
My cousins were jumping off a high rock as if they were jumping into money. I was so scared. “C’mon!”, My cousin shouted from down low. I closed my eyes and counted down from 3. “3,2,1”, I whispered. I jumped so high and went down into the cold and shallow sea like a bomb.
After that we headed to shore to have a drink, It was weird because my cousin said he wasn’t thirsty. I wondered why? Asking him why he wasn’t thirsty, He burped back at me. “Ew!!!”, I said blocking my nose.
The waves were so harsh, loud and awesome, just awesome!

Spoken Poem
Where I come from, the breeze is best and the sun is most powerful
When you’re at the beach you might see
seaweed flowing to the shore
When you’re at the beach
You hear the seagulls squawking as they soar
You can taste salty sea water
You can hear waves splashing against slippery rocks
Where I come from, my school is full of knowledge
The world sees what we share through electronic devices
You hear round of applause
We are the champions at sports
We bring back the Shiny Shimmery Sparkling Trophies
We celebrate success
We get appreciated
At my school, we use the pt england way
We wear it with pride
And god is who we pray
Where I come from, my neighbours are louder than my sister screaming in my face
See kids running and playing down the street
Smelling something delicious cooking in the kitchen
Wondering what was cooking walking towards the door to have a quick peek
Mmmm! My mum was making butter chicken
I hear laughter coming from my sister talking on her phone all night
My sister always runs around to try and lose a pound
Where I live, I always feel safe and sound

Rainbow Warrior Bombing
Not exactly but close to midnight, two men suspiciously zoomed fast towards Greenpeace’s boat the Rainbow Warrior in their rubber dinghy. A lot of people were on the boat celebrating Steve, the director of the anti-nuclear movement’s 29th birthday. The two spies wore scuba diving gear, and dived underneath the boat and attached two limpet bombs. The two spies surreptitiously snuck back into their zodiac and sped away. These spies were working for the French government. The party was so close to ending a lot of people left to go out and celebrate other things and some even went out clubbing. Leaving only a few partying on the boat.
“BOOM!” The first bomb exploded. “Abandon ship, Abandon ship!” yelled Peter Willcox the captain as he flew up from his seat. Four minutes later the next limpet bomb exploded, Tragically one man died. He was a Portuguese man and he was a photographer.
Well the police unfortunately didn’t find the two divers. They escaped on a yacht. Dominique Prieur and Alain Mafart, 2 of the spies who had hired a van to wait for the divers got found by the police and got arrested. They got sentenced to 10 years in New Zealand prison. However less than two years they got sent back to France. Later the French government paid $13m to New Zealand in recompense. The French did not stop their nuclear testing in the Pacific for another 10 years. The French government decided to test their nuclear bombing in French Polynesia instead of France, because if something went wrong it won’t affected the people in their country.

My Son is Naughty
Jack and Ray were at the rugby. Ray’s team was winning
so Jack decided to give Ray a problem to deflate his ego a
bit. So Jack said “Did you know that today is my three
sons’ birthday?” “How old are they?” Ray asked taking
the bite. “I’ll give you a hint. The product of their ages is
36 and the sum of their ages is 13,” Jack replied. “That’s
no help,” said Ray. So Jack weakened and gave him
another clue. “O.K. My youngest son is very naughty.”
“Nothing to it,” exclaimed Ray and he told Jack the
correct ages of his sons.
How did Ray figure out the correct answer.

MATHSS
We have been solving a problem and trying to answer the question. We’ll the question “was how many mermaids were there?” There is 38 arms, 24 eyes and 8 tails. We know that there is 12 creatures all together. Our answer was three. There were three mermaids.
We worked like this.... We did 4 x 8 = 32 38-32 = 6.
EYES- First we solved the eyes because all creatures have eyes. 24 - 2 =12
|
TAILS- If 8 creatures have tails then 4 creatures don’t have tails.
Now we know there are 4 octopuses
ARMS- 8 x 4 = 32 38 arms all together. now we have 6 arms 6 - 2 = 3 so 3 mermaids and 4 oct... 12 creatures 3 mermaids 5 fish so how many creature are there ? 12
